You are considering trusting part of how your company runs to one person. Then this is the question you ask yourself, even though almost nobody asks it out loud. The answer is here, so you do not have to.
Why this page exists
I am one person. That has upsides — you always speak to whoever builds it — but it is also a risk, and waving that away would be dishonest. What I can do is make sure you are never tied to me.
Everything runs in your name
Your domain, your server, your database, your mail addresses. Invoices are in your company name. I have access for as long as you grant it, and not a minute longer. There is no switch at my end that stops your system.
Documentation written for a stranger
Not for me, but for the developer who takes it over one day without ever having spoken to me. How it fits together, why certain choices were made, how to set it up and deploy it.
Ordinary technology, no inventions of my own
Laravel, React, MySQL. Boring, widely known, and there are thousands of developers in Flanders who can work with it. Had I built something of my own, you really would be stuck with me.
A second pair of hands
On projects above a certain size we agree upfront who takes over if I drop out — by name, with access that only becomes active when needed. So you know in advance who to call.
You can always leave
No contract that ties you down for years, no six-month notice, no fee to take your own data with you. If you would rather continue with someone else, I help with the handover and simply invoice those hours.
Why I write this down
Because everyone thinks about it and nobody asks. Whoever does not ask but does doubt simply stops calling back — and then I never hear why. I would rather you read it here and judge for yourself.
